Record yield for Louisiana rice in 2009

<div id="subtitle">Louisiana farmers average 6,300 pounds of rice per acre _ highest in state history</div><div><p>The U.S. Department of Agriculture says Louisiana rice farmers averaged a record 6,300 pounds of rice per acre last year.</p><p>It says that's up 470 pounds per acre from 2008, when Hurricanes Ike and Gustav hit south Louisiana. The previous record was 6,140 pounds in 2007.</p><p>The state's total rice production was estimated at 1.46 million tons, nearly 1.3 million of that long grain rice.</p><img src="http://admatch-syndication.mochila.com/images/ad.gif?aid=67281988&bid=informcom" /></div><div id="copyright"><div>
